Stressed Land

Methodology

To enforce anonymity, transparency, security, and avoid sabotage (e.g., companies covering their tracks), we currently do not have user login functionality. All content is created and modified by civil society and organisations through formulas and reviewed by Stressed Land.

Stressed Land gathers, often invisible, evidences and numbers, assisting countries, small regions and local communities in organising and resisting datacentres imposed on land that we have not requested and that is devastating to our communities and ecosystems.

Civil Society

Civil Society is the backbone of Stressed Land, and we are always looking for people, organisations, institutions and unions to do research and help build our atlas of datacentres, especially in regards to planned datacentres that can be hard to track and resist for communities, but also pseudonyms of global companies hiding their tracks and identities behind other names in other countries as they start operating. It is also valuable to add reports and links for the reports to collectively gather evidence against the broken promises of flourishing societies. Whether you’ve got 10 minutes or 30 hours to contribute, you are welcome to use our formulas.

Collaborate

Stressed Land is collaborative: the process of engagement we use to collect the data is just as important as the data itself. Whether you're a volunteer, a student, a professor, a journalist, or an NGO, we welcome you to participate in building our database. The platform is organised and developed by volunteering commmunities, and are continously lookout for helping hands – wether it be people, organisations, institutions, or unions.

Internationalisation

Datacentre resistance is a global matter that affects communities where many different languages are spoken. Being multilingual is a goal for Stressed Land, but has not been implemented so far. We want to achieve this while keeping the application complexity as low as possible, and also provide clear translation guidelines for community contributors. For now reports can be written in the language of your choice.
